Paradigm Health Palliative Care Coordinator Kim Campbell says feeling valued and supported as an employee every day is a vision and philosophy that Paradigm has embraced since its beginning six years ago. When Campbell came on board over four years ago, there were less than 10 Paradigm employees and they were all wearing many hats. But, founder and CEO Jeff Jarecki’s commitment to creating a company culture that gave employees a sense of worth and a voice that was heard has not changed since the company began.

“I’ve been working in the healthcare industry for many years and I was so drawn to the family atmosphere here at Paradigm,” says Campbell. “The company has grown, and I’ve grown right along with it. Usually, as you add employees, the company dynamic changes and not always for the better. But here, I’ve found that the company philosophy attracts others who are in search of a place to work that is family oriented, values their employees and is always listening and taking action to make change for the better.”

Campbell hasn’t always worked in the home health, hospice and palliative care industry. She started in the medical field over 20 years ago when she began work with a dermatology group in Florida. In 2009 Campbell returned to her home state of Indiana from Florida and has worked in another dermatology practice and most recently with another practice specializing in physical medicine, rehabilitation, internal medicine, and rheumatology as a medical assistant and a certified medical scribe.

“The local rheumatologist that I had been working with was retiring and he took me to an event where I met some of the Paradigm Health folks,” Campbell shares. “I was so drawn to their commitment to providing exceptional care for their patients and their care for each other was evident. It made you want to be a part of it.”

Currently serving as Paradigm’s palliative care coordinator, Campbell says helping potential patients and families understand what and how palliative care and access to resources can benefit them is something she really enjoys. “Palliative care is pain management with symptom management for chronic diagnosis and is sometimes the transition into hospice care.”

For many, Campbell explains, palliative care can provide symptom and pain relief and also can offer a life-ending transition time for patients and their families. “Many times, I connect those patients and families in need of help with a licensed medical social worker who can assist them in locating and securing resources that they may need or that can assist and ease the challenges of day-to-day care for a loved one.”

When not providing a welcoming voice and offering next-step options of care for patients and families, you can find Campbell with a fishing rod in her hand or spending time with her husband, son and grandkids. She swears a little fishing can relieve a world of stress and often fishes close to her home or in Michigan.

“I’m a family person and Paradigm is like a ‘family’ too,” says Campbell. “If you are having a bad day, you always know that someone in the Paradigm family will pick you up and help you get whatever you need. It’s just what we do for each other. That’s really rare these days and I’m grateful to be a part of it all.”
