Paradigm Health Celebrates CNA Week

Paradigm Health spotlights Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) week by celebrating the difference makers on our team like CNA Mollie Green who serves Howard and surrounding counties. Her commitment to compassionate caregiving is at the heart of all we do to enrich the lives of our patients and their families every day.

Green’s healthcare journey began early when she became a CNA at a local nursing home while she was still in high school.

“That began what has been a 12-year journey in patient care,” shares Green. “For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in hospice care and it has been very rewarding.”

The role of a CNA is more than just the tasks of personal care that are provided, it’s about forming meaningful connections and honoring the dignity of every individual Paradigm Health’s hospice team has the honor to care for. Through Green’s attentive and compassionate approach, she embodies person-centered care, enriching the lives of those she serves.

“Some of the key responsibilities as a CNA with Paradigm Health include making sure the patient is bathed and clean, and ensuring all personal hygiene is kept up,” Green shares. “Some people might think what we do is not important, but we often spend the most time amount of time with the patient. We learn so much about them—what they like, what they don’t like. We sit and listen to them tell stories about when they were younger. It’s amazing how rewarding it is.”

Paradigm Health’s community-based approach to caregiving includes making sure communication between patient and family and the Paradigm Health caregiving team is consistent for those they serve in Howard County.

“Communication is such a big part of what I do,” says Green. “Without effective communication, we would not be able to ensure that the very best care is being provided. Any time there is a change in condition, even in the slightest bit, I notify the nurse case manager and make them aware so they can make the appropriate changes. The comfort of our patients is always the number one priority.”

Green’s connection and bond with a longtime Paradigm Health hospice patient she cared for is something that she says she will always carry with her.

“He passed away about six months ago now,” Green reflects. “He was one of the neatest and kindest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Each time I visited him for care, he would say ‘Mollie, you never fail to amaze me, how efficient you are and how well you do your job, you are truly amazing.’ I saw him three times a week for a year-and-a-half, and he never missed a day of telling me that. He reminded me often why I do what I do and why I love what I do.”

Paradigm Health’s mission is to raise the bar of the hospice and palliative care experience one family, one team member, one community at a time. As we honor Green’s dedication during CNA Week, we extend our deepest gratitude to all CNAs who selflessly dedicate themselves to the well-being of others.
