How one Paradigm Health employee is working to make a difference in her community
“Paradigm Health is an advocate for their community. We are Hoosiers Caring for Hoosiers. We’re a mom and pop shop that has grown by leaps and bounds and that is because of our servant heart.”
Gina Mack has always had a caregiver mentality. Growing up in a family of healthcare workers, Mack was inspired by watching her family care for her great grandmother, who lived to be just short of 100 years old. Today, Mack has served as a nurse for over 32 years. She began working at Paradigm Health in September 2019 as a clinical liaison, advocating for patients.
“Out of all the jobs I have worked, [Paradigm Health] is my favorite. Everyone here works together as a team very well,” shares Mack. “Even during COVID-19, our team has risen to the occasion, business has sustained, and Paradigm Health is stronger than ever.”
Two years ago, Mack became aware of the needs of the elderly community in her own town of Greenwood, Indiana. She joined the Homebound Ministry at her local church, Grace Assembly of God, visiting elderly church members who could not get out anymore, praying with them, and delivering groceries and communion. During COVID-19, the Homebound Ministry has become more creative with its efforts, shifting interactions from in-person visits to phone calls, deliveries of hundreds of handmade cards, and even a community-organized costume parade on nursing home grounds.
“Today, I feel like our elderly communities get lost in the shuffle,” says Mack. “The Homebound Ministry shows the elderly in our community that someone cares. Our work goes outside of the spiritual aspect. It is like a lifeline for them.”
Working closely with her church has opened doors for stronger connections between Mack’s community and Paradigm Health as she has been able to connect more community members in need with Paradigm Health’s services.
“It is very sobering being involved in your community. It opened my eyes to a lot of need that I wasn’t really aware of before,” says Mack. “If you’re out there doing things instead of just saying things, it carries a lot more weight and merit. By doing that, you are expanding your ability to help so many more people.”
