Today we have another installment of The Encouragement Exchange, a monthly series created just for healthcare workers.
Each month, Chaplain Tobby E. Smith, our Lead Chaplain, shares thoughtful reflections to inspire, support, and uplift. Whether it’s through stories, quotes, or practical insights, this series is designed to remind you of your value and encourage you in your daily work.
We invite you to not only read these messages but also share them forward — to a colleague, a friend, or anyone who might need a reminder that hope is always within reach. Together, we can create a ripple of encouragement throughout the healthcare community.
Better Together: The Resilient Power of Teamwork
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
-Attributed to the people of Burkino Faso
In the world of healthcare, no one thrives in isolation. Our strength isn’t just in our skill — it’s in our togetherness. Resilience grows when we move forward side by side. There’s a line from an old classic that says it well: “We get by with a little help from our friends.”
And it’s true. Whether it’s handing off a chart, sharing a moment of laughter, or just being present in the same room—these small connections fuel something big. They remind us we’re not alone, and we don’t have to carry everything on our own. Resilient teams lift each other. They celebrate small wins, notice when someone’s quiet, and show up — not just for patients, but for each other.
This week, take a moment to encourage a teammate. A short message, a simple thank you, or a sincere compliment can go further than you think.
May grace and peace meet you at every turn and angle,
Chaplain Tobby
