Hospice Volunteer — Your Time and Talents Make a Difference

Going above and beyond in caring for Paradigm Health’s patients is at the center of our team approach to compassionate hospice care and support. Within that team approach we know the value and life enrichment volunteers can bring to hospice patients. With a strong commitment to volunteerism and community service, Paradigm Health relies on volunteer’s time and special talents that can make such a difference for our patients every day. We take extra time in matching your knowledge and interests with our patients to make sure it is a comfortable and rewarding experience for both patients and families throughout the hospice care journey.

Become a Paradigm Health Volunteer

A Paradigm Health volunteer offers an extra layer of support and comfort to patients and families. A volunteer visit can provide patients with companionship, boost their self-esteem and decrease loneliness.

Our volunteers are specially trained but do not provide direct patient care, give medications, or make medical decisions. As an invaluable resource to patients and families, you will bring a friendly smile, warm conversation, a hand to hold or offer a welcome respite for a family. We take the time to know about you and your life passions so that we can match you with a hospice patient maximizing the reward for both volunteer and patient.

Volunteer Requirements

The health and safety of our patients is our top priority so that we may provide a great environment for both the patient and the volunteers. If you have any questions or believe any of these requirements may be a barrier to you volunteering, please contact us.

Veteran Volunteers Needed for Veteran Programs

Paradigm Health We Honor Vets Program
we honor veterans

Paradigm Health is a proud partner of the We Honor Veterans program, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).  Many of our veteran patients would be especially comforted by knowing the shared veteran experience is a part of their volunteer’s life and history. We are in search of veteran volunteers who can bring this added and connecting dimension to the veteran hospice journey.

Paradigm Health hospice volunteer Bill Krueper retired from the Navy in early 2020 after 20 years of service. He’s spent his entire career collaborating and working alongside many throughout those two decades dedicated to serving his country and others. Now, he volunteers his time to offer companionship and connection to hospice patients.

“I had the honor of working with some of the most dedicated men and women our country has to offer. We were from all types of backgrounds, and always figured out a way to accomplish the mission together. With volunteering, it’s taking the time to communicate, share stories, and have a good time while taking the focus off the end-of-life experience. I’m positive the time spent as a volunteer helps me as much as it does them. They enjoy sharing their stories or those of family members and I try to add in some stories about my own life to show how similar we all really are.”
